Kid’s RETRO READER Story Time at Retro Roast & Fountain
Every Thursday from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Retro Roast & Fountain in Loretto holds story time for children. The event is a great way for families with young children at home to meet one another. Readers are typically people, business owners or operators from the community who read children’s stories about their professions. Often, the readers bring along show and tell objects which demonstrate to the kids more about their occupations. The Medina squad car was a huge hit! Retro has been pleased to have Media police officers, Loretto Firewomen, KARE 11 news anchors, teachers, plumbers, postal workers and Hollywood actor John Ratzenberger just to name a few!
Owners Heidi and Bill Rosati are school teachers and believe that bring books and ice cream or coffee together is a perfect fit! Kids always want to know, “what people DO” and Retro Reader can provide the answers as well as reinforce to children that reading is fun! Adults want to see other adults and have a great espresso drink to break up the day and kids love to be read to!
Retro Roast & Fountain is located at the intersection of County Road 19 and the railroad tracks. It is has a full espresso bar and fresh brewed coffee as well as bakery, soup, sandwiches as well as a soda fountain and hard scooped ice cream. It truly is generations of fun!!
Retro Reader is a great way to market your business as well! If you are interested in being a Retro Reader call Heidi at 763-479-1000. The time commitment is 30 minutes on Thursday morning. The reader reads 2-4 books geared to the primary level preferably having something to do with the readers occupation. Kids want to know what the reader does! Show and tell of tools, vans, equipment are always fun! Retro Roast and Fountain advertises the reader list for months in advance with your company’s logo and contact information. One week in advance, the upcoming reader is posted in Retro and on our now famous sign on county Road 19. Not bad exposure for reading to 10-20 kids and parents for 30 minutes! The reader information is also advertised on our website, with links provided to the reader’s website if requested.
